About Me

I hold a doctorate in pharmacy (Pharm D) from the Lebanese American University (LAU) and a master’s in business administration (M.B.A) from the University of Maryland. Prior to founding Science Notes, I worked as a pharmacist for a large pharmacy chain for a decade. I later joined Cigna-HealthSpring, engaging with community physicians and health systems to improve pharmacy quality measures and patient outcomes.

Sensing gaps in the timely communication of medical information to lay and professional audiences, I became interested in medical writing and communications. Shortly after, I founded Science Notes.

Science Notes was born from a curiosity to better communicate research and compel the reader to improve their clinical practice and live healthier lives.

As a medical writer, I work with clients in the pharmaceutical and life science industry, professional disease associations, research centers, governmental institutions, and others.

I am also the co-founder of Science and Ink, a medical writing and translation company that provides services in the Middle East. At Science and Ink, translation services are not limited to medical topics, but encompass subject areas such as business and finance, economics, public and environmental health, education, requests for proposals, and others.

One of the activities I really enjoy is planning educational events and webinars for colleagues. In 2021, I was honored to chair the regional conference for the American Medical Writers Association Mid-Atlantic Chapter (AMWA-MAC) in 2021. I look forward to organizing more events.

When I am not writing, I love to hike in nature, play music, spend time with friends and family, and read books.

The mechanism of tranexamic acid (TXA) is fascinating!

TXA = analogue of lysine
Lys = + charged

Plasminogen activated to Plasmin via tPA
Plasmin chews up fibrin (has lots of Lys)

TXA blocks Lys binding sites on plasminogen preventing biding of fibrin and clot is stabilized
